Ben Diamond Clears $1 Million Raised, Remains Top Democratic Fundraiser in the Race for FL-13

St. Petersburg, FL – Today, State Representative Ben Diamond (D-St. Petersburg) announced raising over $1 million in his campaign for Florida’s 13th Congressional District.

“I am incredibly grateful for the coalition of support our campaign has received over the past eight months,” said Diamond. “Since day one, this campaign has been a team effort. I could not be more proud to have earned the sustained support of my neighbors in Pinellas County and so many Floridians who stepped up to the plate to join our efforts to deliver common-sense and much-needed solutions for the people.”

The strength behind Ben Diamond’s campaign, by the numbers:

  • Top Democratic Fundraiser: Rep. Diamond cleared $1 million total raised in January 2022. According to campaign finance reports filed January 31, he remains the leading Democratic fundraiser in the race for FL-13 for the third quarter in a row. The campaign has outraised all primary opponents, even accounting for other candidates who rolled over funds from previous campaigns.
  • Broad Base of Support: Diamond has received grassroots support from contributors in each of Pinellas County’s 24 incorporated municipalities from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs.
  • Powered by the People: In addition to being the top fundraiser among Democratic primary candidates, Diamond has earned the most grassroots support from donors contributing less than $200 total. Since launching his campaign, nearly 90% of his contributions have come from Florida donors, and he has received more than 1,800 grassroots donations of $100 or less.

The race to succeed Congressman Charlie Crist in FL-13 is expected to be one of the most competitive in Florida. District 13 includes St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and much of Pinellas County.

Diamond has generated incredible momentum in the early months of his campaign for FL-13 and has earned the endorsements of former Mayor of Tampa Bob Buckhorn, former Congressman Jim Davis, former Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, and former Democratic Attorney General nominee Sean Shaw, along with Pinellas County Commissioners Janet C. Long and Pat Gerard, St. Petersburg City Council members Amy Foster, Gina Driscoll and Brandi Gabbard; Pinellas County School Board member Nicole Carr; Dunedin Mayor Julie Ward Bujalski, Dunedin Vice Mayor Deborah Kynes, Dunedin City Council members Mo Freaney and Jeff Gow; Indian Rocks Beach Mayor Cookie Kennedy, Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson, St. Pete Beach Mayor Al Johnson, Safety Harbor Mayor Joe Ayoub, Largo City Commissioner Jamie Robinson, Gulfport City Council member Michael Fridovich and Pinellas Park City Council member Patti Reed.
