Ben Diamond Raises Nearly $1 Million in Bid for Florida’s 13th Congressional District

St. Petersburg, FL – Since announcing his campaign last May, State Representative Ben Diamond (D-St. Petersburg) has raised nearly $1 million in his bid for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. That total includes more than $280,000 raised in the fourth quarter, which ended last week.

“I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support we have received in the early months of this campaign,” said Diamond. “Together, we are building a grassroots campaign to bring common sense solutions to Washington and deliver results for hardworking families in Pinellas County.”

Diamond, a Democrat, is running to succeed Congressman Charlie Crist in District 13, which includes St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and most of Pinellas County. The race for FL-13 is expected to be one of the most competitive in Florida, and the district is a top target of national campaign committees.

Since launching his campaign, nearly 90% of Diamond’s contributions have come from in-state donors and he has received more than 1,600 grassroots donations of $100 or less. As of December 31, Diamond has nearly $700,000 on hand.

Diamond has generated incredible momentum in the early months of his campaign for FL-13 and has earned the endorsements of former Mayor of Tampa Bob Buckhorn, former Congressman Jim Davis, former Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, and former Democratic Attorney General nominee Sean Shaw, along with Pinellas County Commissioners Janet C. Long and Pat Gerard, St. Petersburg City Council members Amy Foster, Gina Driscoll and Brandi Gabbard; Pinellas County School Board member Nicole Carr; Dunedin Mayor Julie Ward Bujalski, Vice Mayor Deborah Kynes, City Council members Mo Freaney and Jeff Gow; Indian Rocks Beach Mayor Cookie Kennedy, Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson, St. Pete Beach Mayor Al Johnson, Safety Harbor Mayor Joe Ayoub, Largo City Commissioner Jamie Robinson, Gulfport City Council member Michael Fridovich and Pinellas Park City Council member Patti Reed.
